What do you hope to accomplish in the 2018 session?
I am currently working on reviewing Oklahoma's cyber-security/computer crimes statutes to better fit modern-day scenarios. I’m also hoping to look at tax code reforms including ad valorem disbursement, sales tax disbursement and apportionment restructuring. Oklahoma’s tax code was written so long ago it was created for a goods-based economy. We have moved to a services-based economy over the years, but our tax code has not adjusted accordingly.
What do you hope the Legislature will accomplish?
I would like to see a focus on criminal justice reform as well as tax code reforms. We also need to take a long hard look at education and decide where we want Oklahoma to be in the future.
What should people know about you?
I never considered running for public office until I was asked to consider running for this Senate seat in 2014, but I am thankful for the opportunity to serve my district. It is certainly a sacrifice on many levels, but I hope to make positive changes for the future of Oklahoma.
