What do you hope to accomplish in the 2018 session?
As a senator nearing the end of his tenure at the Capitol due to term limits, I hope in the 2018 session to continue setting the tone for long-range planning. Lawmakers need to plan and focus five, 10, 15 years down the line and not focus on the political skirmishes that erupt in every session. We need to put plans in place now that will help grow our economy and create jobs through the next decade and beyond. Additionally, it is my goal to focus on budgetary reforms by reducing reliance on “one-time” sources of funding that will help provide more stability to the budget moving forward.
What do you hope the Legislature will accomplish?
During the 2018 session, it’s my hope the Legislature moves quickly to adopt a balanced budget that reflects the priorities of the people of Oklahoma and is on more solid financial footing.
What should people know about you?
I appreciate my wife, Reenie, and my two children, Benjamin and Abby. Without their love and support, I would not be able to serve in the Oklahoma State Senate. It’s been an honor and privilege to serve the people of Senate District 38.
